Preparations are being made for one of the most anticipated events of the year: The 46th Annual Paseo Arts Festival! The festival will take place during Memorial Day Weekend, May 27 and 28 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. with live music until 10 p.m., and May 29 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. It’s the time of year for visitors to enjoy thousands of original artwork from artists throughout the nation. In addition to the artwork, visitors can enjoy a variety of food trucks and live entertainment. “We are extremely excited to be planning our annual festival for the Paseo Arts District,” says Amanda Bleakley, executive director of the Paseo Arts Association. “We see thousands of new people each year who get to enjoy everything the district has to offer!”
Official artists of the Paseo Arts Festival display a lime green Paseo Arts Association flag, indicating their selection through a competitive juried process and support of the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. The money raised through beverage and merchandise sales directly supports the mission of the 501(c)3 nonprofit, and is used to put on your favorite Paseo programs and events provided to the community year-round, such as Magic Lantern, SPACE, FEAST and First Friday Gallery Walks. Another festival, which features arts, crafts and souvenirs, runs adjacent and concurrently in the neighborhood, but is not associated with the Paseo Arts Festival.
Currently, the Paseo Arts Association is still looking for performers and volunteers for the festival. Anyone wanting to play live music at the festival can apply by March 14. There is a heavy need for acoustic musicians. Anyone interested in volunteering have the choice of helping with beverage tents, music stages, the children’s area, festival information, artist hospitality, festival merchandise, parking attendant and recycle rangers. More information for performer applications and volunteering can be found at thepaseo.org/festival.
