Ribbon Cutting and unveiling of the hotel and Milo restaurant

OKLAHOMA CITY, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The Ellison Hotel will open next Monday, December 6th, at 6201 North Western Avenue with a ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiling of the hotel to the public. The ribbon cutting will take place at 11am outside the east entrance followed by remarks from Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, Michael Owens with Ralph Ellison Foundation and hotel owners.

The hotel’s namesake—native Oklahoman and celebrated author and musician Ralph Ellison —represents Oklahoma’s broader story of offbeat creativity and determined character. The theme has inspired The Ellison’s design details, amenities, lobby art installations and food and drink offerings.

In addition to the hotel’s focus on artistic achievement in Oklahoma, the 75,000 square-foot hotel features 120 guest rooms, the Milo restaurant, 3,752 square feet of meeting spaces and a rooftop swimming pool and bar. The Ellison is Marriott International’s first foray into Oklahoma under its Tribute Portfolio brand, which focuses on independent boutique hotels rooted in their local community.

“The Ellison has been several years in the making to plan, design and build. We have always wanted to create a local hotspot that celebrates food, art and culture,” Ryan Slater, managing partner said. “We are excited to introduce guests to our superb hotel amenities while they enjoy the local flair of Oklahoma City and Classen Curve.”

Reservations for the hotel can be made at www.marriott.com or www.ellisonhotel.com.

Among the unique features of the hotel is the chef-driven restaurant, Milo, offering contemporary Oklahoma cuisine. A gift shop, Market E, will be a source for authentic Oklahoman goods and exclusive merchandise.

Offering an all-day, coffee-to-cocktails dining atmosphere, Milo’s food and beverage services are directed by Michael O’Hara, an Oklahoma City native with twenty years of experience in several of Oklahoma City’s most well-known restaurants. The restaurant is led by Executive Chef Josh Valentine, another Oklahoma native who drew national attention by becoming a finalist on Top Chef Season 10.
