There’s something fun for every family member to enjoy during the holiday season
(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, November 26, 2024) – The National Cowboy & Western Heritage will host three events in December to celebrate the season and get visitors in the holiday spirit with beautiful decorations and festivities for the whole family.
Holiday Wine and Palette in the West
6:00 p.m. - 9 p.m., Friday, December 6
There's nothing else like a handmade gift — so The Cowboy is making it easy for visitors to give a hand painted work of art this Christmas. This wine and painting event offers even beginner painters the opportunity to craft their own unique holiday masterpiece. All supplies are provided. Entry includes desserts, credit card bar and complimentary cocktail.
· $50 entry fee; $45 for Museum members.

Kids Take Over the Cowboy: Holidays at the Museum
10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, December 7
The Cowboy invites families to saddle up their reindeer, hitch a sleigh and head down to the Museum to celebrate the season with Santa. There will be a corral full of festive fun waiting for kids, with beautiful decorations, crafts like holiday-themed Western ornaments and pinecone bird feeders, a caricature artist, face painting, a scavenger hunt through the galleries and more.
Kids can embark on an adventure to find Howe and Dee, the Cowboy Elves, to earn their own special prizes, get photos with Santa Claus, and even wet their whistles with hot cocoa and cider in Prosperity Junction’s Silver Dollar Saloon.

· Entry for non-members comes with Museum admission: $20 for adults; $12 for children aged 6 -12; free for children 5 and under.
Deck the Hall
Featuring Red Steagall and the Boys in the Bunkhouse
4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Sunday, December 8
Join The Cowboy for a dinner event brimming with joyful Western melodies. As the winter chill sweeps across the plains, things at the Museum are heating up with music from Red Steagall and the Boys in the Bunkhouse, for an evening of great food, family fun and Christmas cheer — cowboy style.
For over 50 years, Red Steagall has entertained around the globe as a recording artist, songwriter, television, radio and motion picture personality and cowboy poet. In 1994 Red launched his one-hour syndicated radio show, “Cowboy Corner.” Heard in 155 markets in 34 states, “Cowboy Corner” is in its 26th year of broadcast.
Red has been recognized with 12 Wrangler Awards for music and television from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and was inducted into the Museum’s Hall of Great Westerners in 2003.
