Science Museum Oklahoma will host the 6th annual Tinkerfest on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 9am to 4pm at 2020 Remington Place. Tinkerfest is a daylong celebration of curiosity and creativity that encompasses the entire museum and grounds.

Guests can expect 64 tinkering activities hosted by community partners in addition to Science Museum Oklahoma’s regular exhibits which will include the newly-opened, world-class Love’s Planetarium. Some of the community partners include Carter Chevrolet, Team OKC Robotics, NASA JPL Solar System Ambassadors, and Oklahoma 4H.

Some of the additional activities which focus on art, engineering, science, and hands-on creativity include dismantling a car, carpentry, pancake art, robotics, and even live music mixing.

“Tinkerfest is a record-setting day full of celebrating creativity and fun,” said Sherry Marshall, President and CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma. “But, the day is much more than just a free day at the museum. It is all about that spark of curiosity for science that reaches a new audience!”

The day’s events are sponsored by Oklahoma EPSCoR, the Oklahoma Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research and other community partners.

Tinkerfest activities will conclude at 4 p.m. and the museum will remain open until 6 p.m.

Upon arrival, Tinkerfest guests must check in at the museum’s box office to receive a wristband that will grant access to the museum and all Tinkerfest activities. For faster check-in, go to the Tinkerfest page on the Science Museum Oklahoma website at www.sciencemuseumok.org/tinkerfest to get free online tickets that can be downloaded to a smartphone.
