(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Downtown's West Village district invites the community to the launch of its vibrant summer event series, "Fourth Fridays," beginning Friday, May 23, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This free monthly celebration transforms the district into an open-air festival featuring live music, local artisans, and family activities through October.
Centered along historic Film Row, Fourth Fridays offer something for everyone. Each month, Lee Avenue will be closed to traffic for a street festival featuring headline performances by local favorites. May’s live acts include Johnathan Marshall and Blacktop Bloodline, with additional entertainment and local vendor pop-ups curated in partnership with Core4 Brewing Company.
Along Sheridan Avenue, attendees can enjoy a diverse lineup of activations, including:
- Tin Lizzie’s: Galaxie Glitter face and hair painting for all ages
- TaDa Creative: Collaborative, large-scale community painting
- Dunlap Codding: Outdoor blues concert featuring Brody Buster Band, an award-winning harmonica player from Kansas
- Arts Council OKC’s Art Moves: Acoustic set by guitarist Aaron Squirrel and personalized poems by Kerri Shadid
- Sailor & The Dock: Free beginner salsa and bachata dance lessons
- Koch Comm + City of OKC Mobile Integrated Health: Sensory-friendly activity area promoting Mental Health Awareness Month
Mark your calendars for future dates, particularly July 25, when Fourth Fridays will expand to include a full street closure of Sheridan Avenue, more live music stages, and a one-night transformation of district businesses into themed “music cities” from across the country.
In addition to the festivities, visitors can expect a colorful neighborhood refresh. Public benches throughout Film Row have been painted in signature West Village purple, offering a playful and inviting place to sit and soak in the energy.
The West Village district continues to grow, with new businesses like The Blue Dolphin, JPop Co Balloons, and Frank Branding and Advertising joining the community. Inside Sailor & The Dock, newcomers include Pirate Bike & Outdoor and Tio Caszo's Puerto Rican Kitchen. Longtime favorite Mary Eddy’s Italian Grill returns, featuring a new Italian menu, refreshed atmosphere, and updated drink selection.
Fourth Fridays is produced by the West Village Association and Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership. The event series is sponsored by Hall Capital, Scissortail Dermatology, Insight Electric, Core4 Brewing Company, Claims Management Resources, and Kalee Isenhour.
