Summer solstice is cool and all, but here at deadCenter Film, we consider the second weekend in June as the official start to summer! The 25th annual deadCenter Film Festival runs June 11-15 this year and draws in unique, groundbreaking films from around the world while showcasing the best from the state. deadCenter Film is for the film connoisseur, the occasional movie watcher and everyone in between.
This year, our exceptional programming team has come together to curate a program of more than 200 independent film features (including 25 world premieres) and shorts, including narratives, documentaries, music videos and films by Oklahoma filmmakers and international filmmakers. Screening venues include Harkins Theater in Bricktown, First Americans Museum, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Rodeo Cinema (Film Row location and Stockyards location), Oklahoma Contemporary and the OAK. The dC hub will be at Oklahoma Contemporary, which is where folks can pick up their Festival Passes and buy festival merch. OK Contemporary will also host panels, workshops and the dC Legacy Lounge, a room dedicated to celebrating the last 25 years of deadCenter with popcorn, memorabilia and flashback screenings. View the full schedule.
While the festival certainly revolves around film programming, there are also lots of parties and events, film education and panels and networking galore! Get full access to the entire event with a Festival Pass,. With the Festival Pass, enjoy a designated line and priority entry to all screenings. Gain access to all panels and conversations with 5 Oklahoma Film ICONS and take part in networking events and parties throughout the week. Indulge in complimentary food, drinks and fun.
Your experience with the Festival Pass also includes entry to the dC Awards Ceremony and a festival swag bag. Individual tickets for screenings are only available 20 minutes before a screening, after VIP and deadCenter pass holders are seated. These rush tickets, when available, are $10 each.
If you've never been to deadCenter, this is the year to check out your local film festival, operated in the “dead center” of the country. Come to support what Movie Maker Magazine has called one of the “20 Coolest Film Festivals” and a “Top 50 Festival Worth the Entry Fee.” deadCenter is the only Oscar-qualifying festival in Oklahoma and is also one of only 27 film festivals in the US designated as Oscar-qualifying in all three short film categories (best animated short, best live-action short and best documentary short). If you have been to deadCenter, we welcome you back and can’t wait to celebrate the art of independent film with you!
