Ready to kick up your heels and take your sweetheart out on a date? Why default to the usual when OKC offers so many unique, out-of-the-box date-night (or date-day) ideas?
Here are eight we think are especially great.
Looking for an escape? There’s a date for that! Oklahoma City is home to a variety of escape rooms located throughout the city. What’s an escape room? It’s an immersive game where players are ‘locked’ in a room (or series of rooms) and must solve riddles or find clues to move through the game before the clock runs out. In Uptown, try The Escape OKC. Penn Square Mall is home to Red Door Escape Room, and you’ll find Breakout Games farther north at Quail Springs Mall.
Play pickleball with your plus-one. In case you haven’t heard, pickleball is sweeping the nation, and it's fun for almost anyone to play. It’s an indoor/outdoor paddle sport where two players (singles), or four players (doubles), hit a perforated hollow wiffle-style ball over a net. Give it a go at the newly opened Lower Scissortail Park courts. Bring a picnic to enjoy after your game. For a more full-service experience, try Chicken N Pickle, where you can reserve a court and rent paddles, balls and everything you need, then enjoy dinner and drinks afterward.
Sweets with your sweetie. Start your date at Pinkitzel for a cupcake or macaron, and then stroll through Bricktown to walk off some of your indulgence. For an extra special sweet treat, head to the newly imagined Museum Store at Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Now in partnership with Ganache Patisserie, the Museum Store features pastries, sweets, savories, cocktails and coffee with a charming outdoor patio.
How about a new, adrenaline-filled perspective? Go for a climb or try a zipline. Summit Gym’s OKC Silos offers walk-in fun for new and experienced climbers alike. After a brief-but-thorough safety class and orientation, your relationship is bound to reach new heights as you traverse the gym’s multiple climbing and bouldering courses. Ready to fly? Zip across the Oklahoma River on the 80-foot-tall SandRidge Sky Zip.
Immerse yourself in art at Factory Obscura. It’s 6,000 square feet of hand-crafted, immersive art. Step across the street for an equally artful and unique burger (‘The King’ is a burger with bacon, peanut butter, lettuce, tomato and red onion!) and fries at S&B’s Burger Joint, or treat yourself to a bowl of delicious queso at Iguana Mexican Grill.
Feeling fancy? Savor a cocktail at Tellers, the beautiful bar located inside the former bank lobby in the First National Center with its breathtaking skylights and architecture; then stroll a few blocks northwest to catch an art film at Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
How about a bike tour? What a great day-date idea. Ride OKC can set you up with bikes, safety gear and a guided bike tour. Choose from the Art + Architecture Tour, Bikes + Brews, the Cookie Tour or customize your own. Rather go on your own? Rent a pair of Spokies bikes from one of the 60 pedal-only and 53 e-bikes available in Downtown OKC and the Boathouse District. You’ll definitely work up an appetite, so stop for a coffee and pastry or lunch after your tour. Harvey Bakery & Kitchen is perfect for both.
Take on a trivia contest. Trivia nights are a fun way to energize a date night – either solo or with a group. OKC loves its trivia, with regular trivia nights hosted at spots like Anthem Brewing Taproom, Cock O’ the Walk, Fassler Hall and more every night of the week! The Lost Ogle’s well-oiled trivia machine has locations across the metro.
