GIRLS’ TRIP! Two of the most beloved words in the English language. Oklahoma City is a fantastic spot to gather the gals for some fun. It’s in the middle of the country, super friendly and safe, the weather is (mostly) sunny and it’s easy to plan itineraries for any vibe. Super-luxe? Gotcha covered. More laid back or Boho? Not to worry, sis.
Where to stay
Here’s a lovely thought. What if, once you arrive, you don’t have to leave the property? The Omni Oklahoma City Hotel is a world unto itself: decadent spa, rooftop pool, excellent dining and it’s across the street from Scissortail Park and the Myriad Gardens, which is brimming with fun, from concerts to paddleboats to fitness classes and live music.
We also love The Ellison, in north Oklahoma City abutting the ultra-posh enclave of Classen Curve. With a vibrant, upscale yet authentic Oklahoma vibe and a great pool, The Ellison can be your home base as you explore the area. Nearby, within blocks, is exceptional shopping at Classen Curve and a fab variety of dining and cocktail options. Your posse would also love the cheerful, wildly Instagrammable Bradford House, whose pretty façade and wide front porch are made for hanging out, gabbing and sipping.
Coming in for a concert or a Thunder game at the Paycom Center? Downtown OKC and Bricktown hotels for the win! Hotels within easy blocks range from the economical to the extravagant. The former includes clean, convenient offerings like Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn Express, Wyndham Grand, Hampton Inn and more. Feeling fancy? You’ll love the historic Colcord, Skirvin Hilton, Renaissance Bricktown or one of downtown OKC’s newest luxe offerings, The National, located in a beautifully renovated Art Deco former bank building.
Where to dine and drink
The chicest bakery, brunch and lunch spot in Midtown is Harvey Bakery with a large outdoor patio and plenty of space for parties of all sizes inside. For an old-school red-sauce Italian classic, head to Flip’s. If your plans take you to north OKC, try a French bistro like Ganache Patisserie or La Baguette. For Tex-Mex, try Iguana Lounge or REV Mex. For New Mexican-style cuisine, you can’t beat El Coyote.
Feeling like a little nightlife? Take in some live music at Jones Assembly, where you can also enjoy a great meal, or the Criterion, Blue Door or Tower Theatre. You won’t find a shortage of music in our city. Looking for more of a club scene? Bricktown is a great district for you – filled with bars, comedy clubs and more. Or head for Angles in OKC’s historic LGBTQUIA+ district, or the super chic club, Yours Truly (opening in March 2024), in the Uptown 23rd District.
Where to shop
You’ll find shops you’ll love at Classen Curve, including big athleisure brands like Lululemon, Athleta and Fabletics. You’ll also find local shops like Red Coyote Running & Fitness and plenty of spots to grab a bite like Green Goodies Bakery (plenty of gluten-free and vegan options), Republic Gastropub for a zillion beer choices, delish cocktails and mocktails and elevated pub food and Upper crust Wood Fired Pizza.
Shopping with gal pals in the vibrant Paseo District of OKC is a delightful adventure, filled with boutique finds and charming cafes. From quirky art galleries to trendy fashion boutiques, every corner holds the promise of shared discoveries and cherished memories. Shops like Su Casa and Paseo Gallery are just a few of the places that feature local art. For clothing choices, check out Betsy King Shoe Boutique and Eden Boutique.
For shopportunities with a distinctly Oklahoma flair, set your sights on Stockyards City. Wild Filly Boutique and Langston's for Western wear and Oklahoma Native Art & Jewelry for handcrafted turquoise pieces. Shorty’s Caboy Hattery for perfect custom hats and then a stop at McClintock Saloon for a glass and a snack or a decadent meal. If you’re lucky, you might get a table at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse, a part of OKC’s food scene since 1910.
Looking for something new to do? Try a movie at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Arthouse and independent films are screened several days a week. After (or before) your flick, stroll the museum’s galleries or visit its amazing shop, where you can also enjoy a bit and some bubbly. Or do a deep dive into relaxation at Float OKC.
No matter what you choose, OKC is a great city for a girls’ trip!
