Summer is here, so it is the perfect time to get outside and explore a new area of OKC. Oh, and snap some pics! Here is a list of some of the hottest spots in the city where you’re sure to get a cool photos for your Instagram feed.
Wheeler District
This colorful district has a variety of backdrops to choose from. Pose in front of the colorful houses. Or snap a picture at the top of the Wheeler Ferris Wheel. No matter where you go in this district, every spot is Insta-worthy.
First Americans Museum
With vibrant colors and beautiful exhibits celebrating the 39 distinctive First American Nations in Oklahoma today, the First Americans Museum should be first on your list of places to visit this summer. This 175,000 square foot interactive learning center is a great place to spend the day. Follow their social media pages to keep up with all of the special programming happening, too!
The Lighthouse at Lake Hefner
An oldie, but a goodie is the lighthouse at Lake Hefner! Some of the most iconic pictures of OKC’s magnificent sunsets are shot here, and it should not be forgotten. Take a stroll along the walking path, watch for the company of mink that lives within the rocks and enjoy a summer evening at the lake.
Orange Peel OKC
Stop by the Britton District for a bite at El Coyote and then make your way over to Orange Peel OKC, one of the hottest vintage clothing stores around! With bright colors and funky fabrics, be the star of your own fashion show in this cute boutique.
9th Street in Automobile Alley
All of Automobile Alley is Instagrammable, but 9th street is especially photo worthy. Factory Obscura is of course one of the main highlights and definitely worth the visit! This 6,000 square foot immersive art experience is full of bright colors and quirky backdrops, perfect for every Instagram feed. Head over to Katiebug's for a shaved ice on their cute, outdoor patio. Make sure you stop in to Common Dear, even if it’s just to selfie on their brightly colored porch. Finish up with dinner at Iguana Mexican Grill, with a snap of one of their beautiful cocktails in signature glasses.
