Originally a warehouse district, Bricktown has evolved into one of the most exciting entertainment districts in OKC. East of downtown, the brick-clad neighborhood is renowned for its lively atmosphere, beautiful canal and something-for-everyone attractions. From daytime adventures to nightlife, here’s what to see, do and eat in Bricktown.

Things to Do & See

Flowing for one mile below street level, the Bricktown Canal is a tree-lined oasis where visitors can stroll the trail or take a guided trip on the Bricktown Water Taxi. Along the way, passengers pass colorful murals, patios and landmarks, such as the Land Run Monument, where 45 sculptures comprise one of the largest bronze art installations in the world.

Elsewhere on the canal, Sonic Plaza – outside the former Sonic headquarters – provides a tranquil grotto for soaking in the sights, while Brickopolis features laser tag, an arcade and outdoor mini golf. During baseball season, head to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to cheer on the OKC Comets. With 480,000 bricks on the ballpark exterior, it’s a great way to watch the Triple-A baseball team in action.

Where to Eat & Drink

It’s comfort food with a view at Charleston’s. Whether dining on the canal-adjacent patio or inside, the restaurant offers an elevated take on familiar favorites, from French dip sandwiches to the “Legacy Fried Chicken.”

Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse is a swanky restaurant fit for a baseball legend. Open since 2000, the institution is known for its wine list, with nearly 500 bottles, plus a cigar and Scotch lounge, some of the best steaks in OKC and memorabilia from the Mantle family. Get a taste of New Orleans at Bourbon St. Cafe, where live music and waterside views come with Cajun classics like char-broiled oysters, gumbo and Voodoo Punch.

Energetic and family-friendly, Rodizio Grill offers an authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience, with gauchos carving flame-grilled meats tableside, lively music and tasty sides like Brazilian cheese bread. It’s tacos by day, and dancefloor by night, at Santos Mexican Kitchen & Cantina. Located on the canal, the restaurant features a menu of margaritas, tacos and other Mexican favorites, while the laser-lit dancefloor comes alive after dinner.

Nightlife & Live Music

Bricktown offers an array of nightlife, from The Criterion, a best-in-class concert venue with capacity for over 3,000 to JJ’s Alley, a pint-sized pub that features nightly acoustic music. Decked out like a backyard party, Truck Yard offers daily live music, bottled cocktails, rotating food trucks and a huge patio dotted with lawn chairs and fire pits.

For dancing, follow the neon lights to ‘70s-inspired discotheque Lampost Lounge, or sip sparkling margaritas while a DJ spins at Pretty Please Social Room

Best Photo Spots

To capture the beauty of this downtown district, visit the Bricktown Canal at sunset, as the Devon Tower shimmers in the background, and the bronze sculptures at the Land Run Monument practically glow during golden hour.

Any time of day, the mirror-like reflection as water taxis glide along the water offers its own serene awe, while the grandeur of the OKC skyline comes into view further east along the canal (try Charleston’s patio or Truck Yard). Don’t forget to stroll through Flaming Lips Alley, and stop for photos at the Mickey Mantle Statue.

Getting Around

In addition to the water taxis, the modern Oklahoma City Streetcar runs through downtown to East Bricktown, offering access to restaurants, nightlife and attractions. Located right off I-40, street parking and surface lots are available, and Bricktown is an easy district to explore on foot, both on the canal trails and on the brick-lined streets. There’s also indoor parking at the Bricktown Garage.

Coming Soon to Bricktown

A new public art installation called Cloud Embrace is set to enhance the district. Planned for United Way Plaza, next to the Bricktown Canal and Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, the large‑scale sculpture is inspired by Oklahoma City’s ever‑changing skies.

Designed by Creative Machines, the installation will stand approximately 24 feet tall and 40 feet wide, with perforated steel panels that cast shifting patterns of light and shadow throughout the day. Color‑changing LED lighting will transform the space at night, creating an immersive environment designed for gathering, interaction and photos. The monumental scale allows visitors to walk inside the sculpture, making it both an art piece and a communal experience.

When to Visit

To experience the neighborhood at its liveliest, visit in the fall for comfortable temperatures, regular water taxi service and OKC Comets games. In the summer, beat the heat at indoor attractions, like the American Banjo Museum and stay up late for Bricktown’s free concert series, live music and patio cocktails.

When spring wind comes sweeping down the plains, the flower-lined canal is a great retreat, due to it being mostly below street level. Winter, while occasionally chilly, offers its own tranquility. On sunny days, it’s the perfect season for a game of mini golf or a fireside drink at Truck Yard.

From live music to baseball, and from bronze sculptures to legendary steaks, Bricktown is a must-visit entertainment destination in downtown OKC, with something for everyone, day or night. Start planning your visit and experience it for yourself.
